Barbara Shaw is an artist and paints under her maiden name of Barbara Newman.

Barbara has been inspired by the beautiful and varied landscape of the Isle of Wight.

She spent her childhood on the island and then trained at Portsmouth College of Art.

Besides raising a family, she found time to paint and develop her own work and now has many years experience in different types of media and forms of expression. Her subjects include landscape, seascape and portrait with particular interest in dogs, cats and horses.

As well as painting many commissions, she has displayed her work at successful exhibitions at Henley-on-Thames.

Barbara is a qualified adult education tutor and now gives regular daytime ‘Painting for Pleasure’ classes covering many techniques of drawing and painting, including the use of water colour, oil, pastel and pen and ink.
